Y por el Estrecho hay movimientos importantes de buitres leonados en octubre y noviembre[5].October is the month of the sea and the mountains. Off Ceuta, Scopoli's Shearwaters leave the Mediterranean in the last week of October and the first of November at an average of 7,000 birds an hour, and up to 18,000 in easterly winds[1]. In the western Pyrenees, cranes, Wood Pigeons and Red Kites pour in: Lindus counted 103,413 cranes in 2024, a third of them on 24 October[2], and 7,665 Red Kites in 2025, a record for its series[3]. The first cranes reach Spain in October[4]. And there are significant movements of Griffon Vultures across the Strait in October and November[5].
