A unique and stunningly beautiful bird, also known as the 'Crocodile Bird' due to ancient (but likely mythical) stories of it cleaning the teeth of crocodiles. It has an unmistakable pattern of jet-black, pure white, and creamy-buff. It is related to the coursers but has shorter legs. It is highly terrestrial and has a very striking, high-contrast appearance that matches the sandy riverbanks of sub-Saharan Africa.

Very rare accidental visitor from Africa. Only one historical record for Spain: Tenerife (late 19th century). Exceptional.
