A delicate, long-legged lapwing with a remarkably long, fine bill and striking yellow legs. It has a uniform sandy-gray body and a pure white tail (hence its name). It lacks any bold facial mask. In flight, it reveals a bold black-and-white wing pattern. It is an exceptionally rare accidental visitor from the Middle East and Central Asia.
Very rare accidental visitor from Asia/Middle East. Only two homologated records: Tenerife (1978) and Asturias (2003). Exceptional. Some undocumented sightings in the Ebro Delta.

RarezaRarity

Each occasion groups the records in the same 10 km square and its 8 neighbours with no gap of more than 14 days, so a bird that stays for weeks in the same place counts only once.
In BirdPedy it is legendary, the level for species with 5 occasions or fewer in 5 years.
